BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Residents in Caswell Beach should pick up their hurricane evacuation re-entry decals from the Town of Caswell Beach Police Department.

The police department, located at 1100 Caswell Beach Road, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., according to the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce.

Remember to bring the vehicle's registration, a copy of the driver's license and a water or tax bill.

Oak Island residents need to get re-entry decals soon

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Residents in Oak Island should their their re-entry decals as soon as possible.

According to the Administration of the Town of Oak Island, the issuance of hurricane re-entry decals will cease if and when the Town is under a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch by the National Weather Service.

In order to obtain a decal, residents must fill out a form and supply documentation to show that they are residents, property owners or business owners. A North Carolina Driver's License with an Oak Island address, a water bill or a tax bill will be accepted. All requests must be accompanied by a copy of the vehicle registration and a copy of the Driver's License.

Decals will need to be placed on the inside of the windshield in the lower corner on the driver's side.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Three Brunswick County residents were arrested recently for possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the following people were charged:

  • Paul Douglas Skaggs, 45, of 1330 N. Howe St. Apt. #1 in Southport
  • Tracie Yvonne Ford, 41, of 2773 Joseph St. in Supply
  • Alana Nicole Brown, 20, of 351 Red Oak Rd. in Shallotte

CHARGED: Supply man violates domestic protective order

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — A 39-year-old man from Supply violated a domestic protective order, according to Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Kevin Olsen, of 2717 White Street, was charged with trafficking opium/heroin and violating a domestic protective order.

Brunswick Power Plant at full power following earthquake

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The Brunswick Power Plant is operating safely and at full power, according to Ryan Mosier with Progress Energy.

Workers in the plant reported feeling the earthquake around 2 p.m. Tuesday, but it did not have any impact on the plant.

No alarms or monitors went off during or after the quake.

Spokespeople for Duke Energy and Progress Energy said the two companies’ six nuclear power plants all stayed online.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Due to the threat of severe weather, the Ashley at South Brunswick High School football game has been moved up in the week.

The two teams will play at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The junior varsity squads will take the field at South Brunswick at 5 p.m.

Homeless man arrested for drug possession

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — A homeless Supply man was arrested recently for drug possession, according to Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

James Michael Hegedus, 41, was charged with the following:

  • Felony possession of cocaine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Two counts of trafficking opium/heroin
  • Two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule 2 controlled substances (Opana and Oxycodone)
