Meet Snookie, the bed bug detective

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Nobody wants to share a bed with bed bugs. If you are ready to get rid of them for once and for all, you might want to give Snookie a call.

Snookie is an official bed bug detective. A few months ago, she was just hours away from euthanasia. Luckily Snookie was rescued and then sent to the Florida Canine Academy, the leading school in the world on scent detection.

She graduated at the top of her class, and is now ready to begin work. Snookie's handler, Chuck Martin, says Snookie must practice every day to keep the scent fresh in her head.

"She works for about an hour and a half finding bed bugs. We practice with different toys and props and she always finds the bed bugs. That's how she gets rewarded and gets fed."

Snookie is the only bed bug dog within approximately 200 miles of the WECT viewing area. She works exclusively with Manning's Pest Control, who told us why they hired Snookie.
