Brunswick Co. Fire Marshal says smoke is from Dare Co.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — Brunswick County Emergency Services Fire Marshal Scott Garner announced that the heavy smoke that much of Brunswick County is experiencing is due to drift smoke from the Pain’s Bay Fire in Dare County.
As of 10 a.m. on Monday, there were no known wildfires or controlled burns in Brunswick County.
The Dare County fire has burned approximately 45,000 acres, according to Garner. He also stated that weather conditions overnight created an inversion and with the prevailing wind direction, the smoke has traveled to Brunswick County.
