Sheriff’s office warning residents of phone scam | 911

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – If you receive a phone call from someone claiming that they’re asking for donations on behalf of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, someone is trying to scam you.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Wednesday saying that it does not make phone solicitations, nor ask other people to do so on its behalf.

If you receive such a phone call, it’s advised that you don’t agree to make a contribution, or provide any personal or credit card information. You should also contact the sheriff’s office right away at 910-253-2777.
