Nearly $2,000 worth of copper stolen from Brunswick Electric

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Almost $2,000 worth of copper and equipment was stolen from Brunswick Electric last week.

The lock on the gate to Brunswick Electric, located at 4335 Southport-Supply Road SE in Bolivia, was cut off over night between Thursday and Friday, according to an incident report from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Five different types of copper wire, valued between $250 and $400 each, were stolen from Brunswick Electric trucks, along with a $100 wheel barrow.

Earlier this month, Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the criminal responsible for vandalism at the Hickman’s Crossing substation in Calabash. That break-in resulted in a power outage for approximately 3,600 customers.
