BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The symbolic cutting of the ribbon on Jan. 14, 2013 completed a five-plus year project and officially opened the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce Welcome & Conference Center.
The Chamber's move from 4841 Long Beach Road was triggered by a notification from North Carolina Department of Transportation that the Chamber’s Office was in the path of a new road construction project which would connect Highway 133 to Hwy 87 near Bethel Church Road.
After some twists, turns and a donation by Dr. Brad L. Hilaman, MD the Chamber moved to the 4433 Long Beach Road location in October of 2012 and immediately began plans to construct a 1,600 square feet meeting and storage room addition.
Based on a custom design by Glenn Willis, Coastal Carolina Designs, Chad McCullough, McCullough Construction built the functional but attractive addition with Carolina Creations Landscaping providing support on the landscaping and parking lot.
