Oak Island Deli & Pub under new management

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new management at Oak Island Deli & Pub.

The pub is located at 5422 E. Oak Island Drive, Oak Island.  

David Gilbreath and Colleen Schech teamed up to offer hamburgers, sub sandwiches, salads, wraps, seafood, daily drink specials and some of the islands greatest bartenders.  You can watch multiple flat screen televisions and play darts or billiards while enjoying a delicious meal.

Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Southport, Sanco Homes and Willetts Properties of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage, recently held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Southport Way.   

Southport Way, a new neighborhood located off Robert Ruark Drive in Southport, features a series of cottages ranging from $169,900 to $229,900 called the Southport Collection, designed with the look of the old historic charm of Southport with new home appeal.

Consistent and exceptional customer service is the foundation of a thriving small business. To recognize those small businesses in our community who are providing “award-winning” customer service, the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce devised a program by which customers can nominate any business they feel has given them exceptional customer service to receive a Golden Pineapple Award.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Last Friday, February 15, The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a NC Department of Transportation Update for its members, members of the Brunswick County Chamber and county and municipal leaders.  

NC DOT Secretary Anthony Tata was the keynote speaker for the event held at the Brunswick Center in Southport.  Secretary Tata’s remarks included his intention to focus the NC Department of Transportation upon Governor McCrory’s priorities: customer service starting with the DMV, leveraging our roads to create jobs and be more efficient.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Southern Cape Fear Bridal Showcase was held this past Sunday, February 17th, at the Southport Community Building. Member businesses of the Southport- Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce that provide various wedding services were available to help the brides and grooms plan their special day. This year’s event had over 100 guests.   Megan Canny, Chamber Events Coordinator & Sales said “we are encouraged by the turnout at this year’s event which could translate into exciting news for the wedding season in our area.”

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of the new office of Southport PC, 4831-101 Port Loop Road, (near DMV Office), Southport.   

Dawn C. Weikle, a certified network engineer has been working with both small businesses and residential clients in the area for over twelve years. 

The new shop will make it easier for clients to drop off their computers, but they will still offer high quality on-site service for businesses and excellent in-home service for residential clients.

CFCC offers business seminar for faith-based organizations

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Cape Fear Community College Small Business Center will offer a special seminar for owners and managers of faith-based organizations on Feb. 21 from 6 - 9 p.m.

According to Doug Tarble, coordinator of CFCC's Small Business Center, faith-based organizations are considered businesses and subject to their own unique set of rules and regulations. This seminar addresses the operational and regulatory issues often overlooked or commonly not understood by faith-based organization leaders and managers.

The program runs from 6 - 9 p.m. in room L-107 in the CFCC Health Sciences Building at the corner of Walnut and Second St.
