BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Students at Brunswick County Academy (BCA) are excited to bring their laptops to classes throughout the school day. Thanks to funding from a Federal School Improvement Grant (SIG), each student now has an issued laptop and carrying bag.
At the beginning of the day, students report to their homeroom teacher to check-out their assigned laptop. Students keep the laptop with them throughout the day for use in each of their classes. At the close of each day, students return the laptop to their homeroom teacher for a quality check.
Teachers are equally, if not more, excited about the lessons and activity options available through technology. Meeting students' individual needs, tailoring lessons, projects, and assessments to keep each student engaged through technology is a marvelous opportunity.
Students can instantly access assignments from teachers using Edmodo, ClassScape, Study Island and other web-based instructional programs. Most of these programs are used to tutor students in need of extra attention as well as challenge students who seek more stimulation. Students will now be able to learn, research, analyze, and present information at a more individual pace and interest.
The school is pleased to offer this mode of instruction to the learning community at BCA. Staff anticipate growth in not only student achievement, but individualized instruction and learning skills.
