Draft school calendars released for public feedback

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Brunswick County Calendar Committee invites parents, staff, and community members to provide feedback on three draft proposals of the 2013-2014 school calendar.

The calendar committee is comprised of parent and staff representatives from each of the 19 schools.  The committee met December 3, 2012 to review calendar law as established by the North Carolina General Assembly and to generate drafts for public review and feedback.  The calendar law was amended this year to require 185 instructional days or 1025 instructional hours.

The calendar committee will use the feedback gleaned through the online survey to help inform their recommendation to the Board of Education.

The 3 drafts vary in the number of instructional days (185, 180, and 182 respectively) but do not alter current school start and end times.
