Donations needed to feed children in Brunswick County Schools | Children

SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) - Two groups are coming together to help feed hungry children in the Brunswick County Schools.

Shoreline Baptist Church in Southport is collecting non-perishable food items through the month of February.

The food collected will be used to fill backpacks and then given to Matthews Ministries to be distributed.

According to a volunteer with the church, the backpacks go to children in the Brunswick County Schools who have little or no food at home.

Food items needed include the following:

• Chef Boyardee (pop top tabs)
• Soup
• Cereal and/or cereal bars
• Canned chicken and tuna
• Canned spaghetti sauce

Shoreline Baptist Church is located at 4198 Vanessa Drive in Southport.

Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
