BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A household hazardous waste and clothing collection, hosted by Brunswick County Solid Waste and the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, will take place soon at South Brunswick Middle School.

According to a news release from the Belville Town Manager, it will be held Saturday in the bus parking lot, and is free for county residents and farmers. Proof of Brunswick County ID will be required.

Common items accepted include the following:

  • Paints
  • Stains
  • Insecticides
  • Herbicides
  • Household Cleaners
  • Automotive Fluids
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent Bulbs
  • CFLs
  • Aerosol Cans

Electronic items will not be accepted. However, they are accepted free of charge year-round at the Brunswick County Landfill.

All residents in attendance are asked to stay inside his or her vehicle upon arriving at the event, and items brought needed to be clearly labeled.

For any items not listed above, call the county Solid Waste Department at 910-253-2524.

Additionally, keep in mind that that staff members at the event reserve the right to refuse any items brought.
