BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The former police chief for Boiling Spring Lakes and his son were due in court Monday, but only one showed up.

Former BSL Chief Emmett Ballree was nowhere to be seen in court Monday, but his son, Michael Ballree was there.

They both turned themselves into authorities in August after being indicted by a grand jury.

The NC Department of Justice said Emmett Ballree faces one felony count of aiding and abetting and his son faces one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Michael Ballree's case was continued to November 26. Emmett has to report to court Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
