Business gives away free pizzas for a year to help send police officers back to school

A local business is giving away free pizzas for a year so some Boiling Spring Lakes police officers can go back to school.

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WECT) – A local pizza shop owner is raising dough for the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department.

The Pepperoni Grill is celebrating its fifth year in business and owner Ian Hunting has decided to give back to his community.

Hunting will be giving away 52 pizza pies to one lucky person, but the winnings won't end there.

The money raised during this raffle giveaway will be used toward a scholarship in honor of James "Mitch" Prince.

Prince was a Boiling Spring Lakes officer who died in the line of duty back in 2005.

All the proceeds will be used to help send officers in the department back to school.

"In the last five years, I found that working with the community there's a give and take to make a business successful and by helping out the community," Hunting said. "They've helped me and it's the right thing to do."
