SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – Author Stephen King was in Southport recently on the set of a new TV series based on his novel of the same name.

The show’s Video Effects Supervisor, Stephan Fleet, sent in the photo above, picturing himself and King. Fleet says the crew has enjoyed being in Southport, and the project has gone well so far.

Under the Dome, which will premiere on CBS in June, was filmed in the picturesque town last Friday.

The series will be based in a fictitious town called Chester's Mill. The town finds itself surrounded by a mysterious barrier that won't allow people to travel outside of it.

Fleet added that crews will be working in Southport for a few more weeks.

The series has also set up production in Wilmington, and some filming will take place in Burgaw.
