HOLDEN BEACH,NC(WECT)-A WECT viewer emailed this picture of an alligator in the surf at Holden Beach Wednesday morning.
"We spotted him this morning on the East end of the island. He continues to slowly move Westward struggling in and out of the surf. Animal control tried to subdue him and his head popped up and he headed toward the water. He appears to be injured on his tail," said Julie Metz Langley.
Julie visits Holden Beach every year from Charlotte. She stayed on the beach and watched somebody (we aren't sure if it was Animal Control Officials or State Wildlife Officers) get the alligator into a large tube and hoist it into a truck. They drove the alligator off the beach near the Holden Beach bridge.
Another viewer called the newsroom and said the alligator was spotted by a jogger around 6am, behind Captain Petes and Brunswick Lanes Realty on the beach.
