BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WECT) - Leaders in Boiling Spring Lakes are taking a closer look at the levels of the water in Spring Lake.
WECT first reported at the beginning of June that some neighbors were concerned about the low water levels of the lake and it's effect on the plant life surrounding Spring Lake.
Since our story aired, town leaders decided to raise the water level by eight and a half inches.
Now, there's concern that the water level is too high and could cause flooding problems during severe weather events.
Jayne Falor lives along Spring Lake. She says the heavy rains on Monday evening caused flooding in her backyard and she's concerned about what may happen if a hurricane comes through the town.
This issue is on the agenda for the town's council meeting next Tuesday August 6.
