Share your treats and save your teeth

Share your treats and save your teeth

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - While doing some research for a story on WECT News at Midday, I came across an interesting program. The story is about Hallowen candy and how it's a dentists worst nightmare.

The story details how some candies are worse than others for your children. The really sticky, gooey stuff that sticks to your teeth is worse than the chocolate bar because the sugar stays stuck to the teeth.

The story also included a program dentists can sign up for called the Halloween Candy Buy Back program. Participating dentists will offer toothbrushes, coupons or maybe even cash for the candy your child turns in. They then send the candy to troops overseas.

I found four dentists in our area participating in this. They are Surf City Dental, Shallotte Family Dentistry, Tracie Vestal in Elizabethtown and Cosmetic Family Dentistry in Bolivia.
