Brunswick County woman found dead in home after fire | 911

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A woman from Brunswick County was found dead in her home over the weekend after a neighbor called the police because they had not seen the woman for several days.

Captain Harrington from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office said they found Sheila Lambs dead in her home near Ocean Isle Beach after a fire in her home earlier in the week. Harrington said the fire was small and likely put itself out before spreading.

Harrington said she had probably been dead in her home for several days before deputies found her Sunday. He said the fire does not appear to be suspicious and was accidental.

The SBI assisted in the investigation and Captain Harrington said it ruled the fire as accidental.

He said an autopsy was not performed and the Sheriff's Office is still waiting on the official cause of death from the medical examiner.
