Bald Head Island names new public safety director | News

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Dr. Caroline Mitchell beat out 70 applicants for the new Director of Public Safety position in Bald Head Island.

According to the Village of Bald Head Island, Mitchell is expected to start in the position February 6.

Mitchell is trained in all aspects of public safety, including law enforcement, emergency medicine and firefighting.

According to Bald Head Island, nearly 70 people applied for the position and five were interviewed before selecting Mitchell.

The process included representatives from Island residents, volunteers, emergency management professionals, village council and staff.
