BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – It was announced Thursday that the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded a $3.7 million contract to preserve a bridge on N.C. 133, which is over the Intracoastal Waterway in Oak Island.
The project means that the bridge’s deck will be resurfaced, its expansion joints will be replaced and concrete in the substructure of the bridge will be repaired, according to a spokesperson from the D.O.T.
Work can start between March 1 and August 1, and completion is expected to be done about 14 months after the project starts.
The 41-year-old bridge spans .81 miles.
