SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – Several crews responded to the scene of a fire at Archer Daniels Midland Company Thursday morning, according to Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Gardner.
Gardner said that a trailer full of insulation for a construction project caught fire.
ADM is an agricultural processing company, and it is located at 1730 East Moore Street.
ADM released the following statement, following the fire:
"At approximately 9:30 a.m., a storage trailer belonging to one of our contractors caught fire on the grounds of ADM's citric acid manufacturing plant in Southport, N.C. We promptly called the local fire department. No one was injured, and the fire has been extinguished. The fire was not close to the plant or any other ADM buildings and will not impact our operations."
