About to move? Supply business now offers U-Haul rentals

SUPPLY, NC (WECT) —Ted Lane Helms, owner of East Coast Garage Doors, Inc., recently added U-Haul truck and trailer rentals to his business.

The store, located at 1907 Kirby Rd. SW in Supply, will now provide moving vans, open trailers, closed trailers, furniture pads, appliance dollies, furniture dollies, tow dollies and auto transports, according to a press release.

“New-home construction slowed down and one of my friends is a U-Haul dealer, so it was suggested I try renting U-Haul equipment,” Helms said in a statement.

CIS Thrift Shop in Southport reopens, looks for donations

SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) — Community in Schools announced the expansion of the CIS Thrift Shop in Southport.

The shop reopened yesterday and will rely on community volunteers to make it successful. It will be following the model used in the shops in Sunset Beach and Boiling Spring Lakes.

“With money tight, people need a place to buy quality merchandise at affordable prices,” said Cynthia Tart, Executive Director, in a statement. “Donations from our community partners will benefit those who purchase them, and the money will go to programs which serve children and families throughout the county.”

OAK ISLAND, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick County Library has announced that G.V. Barbee, Sr. Library, located at 8200 East Oak Island Drive, will offer free AARP tax help from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – The New Hope Clinic announced that the Southport Lions Club will unveil its new vision equipment room at the 201 W. Boiling Spring Rd clinic location.

The unveiling will be on March 30 at 5 p.m.

The lions club recently held a Night for Sight reverse raffle to raise funds for the equipment. The club intends to name the room in honor of Lion David Holmes.
