OAK ISLAND, NC (WECT) – The first annual Bridge to Bridge Triathlon will be held Saturday, June 2, according to a press release from an Oak Island official.
The sprint triathlon will kick off with a one-third of a mile swim in the water off of Oak Island.
Following the swim will be an 18-mile, one-lap bike ride on a course described as flat and fast, where riders will go across the Oak Island Bridge that opened in 2010. The biggest inclines on the trek will be over bridges.
After that will be a 4-mile out and back run to the end of the pier. Aid stations will also be set up at mile markers one, two and three to help keep participants hydrated.
