Diane Ross emailed the picture and said she saw it around 7:00 a.m.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Friday for Brunswick County.

Heat index values could reach 107 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The most uncomfortable conditions should occur in the afternoon.

Make sure you stay hydrated, take frequent rest breaks and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. Don't forget to check out the WECT weather page to keep track of the forecast.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The National Weather Service released the following high temperatures around Brunswick County for Friday:

  • 98 degrees: Winnabow at 3:51 p.m.
  • 97 degrees: Bolivia at 3:52 p.m.
  • 101 degrees: Supply-Nature Conservancy at 3:18 p.m.
  • 96 degrees: Ocean Isle Beach-Along U.S. 17 at 3:50 p.m.
  • 92 degrees: Sunset Beach at 3:53 p.m.
  • 99 degrees: Calabash at 2:06 p.m.

Get ready for a hot weekend in Brunswick Co.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday in Brunswick County.

An excessive heat watch remains in effect from Saturday morning until Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

High humidity and hot air temperatures will make it feel like 105 to 109 degrees on Friday and between 110-119 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. The hottest temperatures will occur in the middle to late afternoon hours, the NWS said.

Temperatures can quickly exceed 150 degrees in a closed vehicle that’s exposed to direct sunlight, so don’t leave children or pets unattended.

Remember to drink fluids, wear light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in a shaded or air conditioned area.
